Atari To Build Cyberpunk-Style Hotels Throughout US

Atari, one of the oldest and most famous video game companies in the world, are moving into the hotel game with their Cyberpunk-styled hotels. Atari is of course famous for their legendary Atari 2600. The company broke new ground with video games such as, Asteroids, Centipede and PONG, and helped usher in the birth of home consoles.

You’d be forgiven for not quite seeing the link between video game and hotels, but Atari’s decision to move this way is likely for the best considering the market dominance of PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo.

The hotels are only at the preliminary stages, but developers, GSD Group and Gensler, have released some concept art designs. These photos are sure to peak the interest of any avid gamer who’s partial to a vacay.

The hotels will debut in Phoenix, Arizona, and Las Vegas, Nevada. Assuming operations run smoothly, there are additional plans to open hotels in Austin, Chicago, Denver, San Francisco, San Jose, and Seattle.

Atari is promising to offer guests a “wholly unique hospitality experience inspired by, and built with, classic and modern video game culture in mind”. The hotels will include nightclubs, as well as themed restaurants and bars.
