In massive news for pop culture aficionados, San Diego Comic-Con is back on for 2020…only in a slightly different capacity. The massive yearly celebration of pop culture will now be taking place online between the 22nd and 26th of July 2020. The event will be FREE for everyone. This is a big coup for people that have always wanted to go, but have had bad luck in trying to secure tickets. A spokesperson for San Diego Comic-Con, David Glanzer, had this to say,
“For the first time in our 50-year history, we are happy to welcome virtually anyone from around the globe. Though stay-at-home conditions makes this a very difficult time, we see this as an opportunity to spread some joy and strengthen our sense of community.”
An aspect of the event that has always been a fan favourite is the merchandise & exclusives that are only able to be bought within the convention walls. According to reports, this has been taken into consideration and there will be an online merchandise opportunity for those that attend the online event.
Additionally, WonderCon, which was originally scheduled for April 2020, will be back at the Anaheim Convention Centre from March 26 to 28th 2021.
Information about the event is still relatively scarce. Fans are being directed to the SDCC socials to keep updated on developments. Of course, you can also check in on Popcorn Banter to stay updated about any new developments with San Diego Comic-Con & other yearly events.
