To say Frozen was a smash hit would perhaps be the decades biggest understatement. Therefore, it came as no surprise that Frozen II destroyed several box office records. The magical children’s animated film is adored throughout the world and brought in a whopping payday for Disney.
9. Furious 7
Fast and the Furious is the franchise that just keeps on giving. Furious 7 features a crazy high-profile cast, including Dwayne Johnson, Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Jason Statham.
Sadly, Furious 7 was the final film in the franchise to feature Paul Walker, as he tragically passed away during filming.
8. The Avengers
The Avengers was a cultural and financial smash hit when it rocketed into cinemas in 2012. The team up film was, at the time, the highest grossing superhero film of all-time.
Although the MCU was already well and truly underway, The Avengers is widely regarded as the movie that kickstarted the franchises boom.
7. The Lion King
It’s important to point out that this is the 2019, live-action version of The Lion King.
This film was a big step in a new direction for Disney. Of course, The Lion King was a phenomenon when it was released as an animated film in 1994. 25 years later, the franchise was given new life thanks to advanced CGI.
The live-action version will never receive the universal praise that the animated film did, but the box office shows fans really enjoyed it.

Starring Chris Pratt, Jurassic World rode the nostalgic coattails of it’s parent franchise, Jurassic Park.
Much like a Tyrannosaurus, the film stomped into cinemas and fans lapped it up in droves.
5. Avengers: Infinity War
Avengers: Infinity War was the first part of a two-part epic to close out the Infinity Saga of the MCU. The film was the beginning of a 22-film story arc that will go down as one of cinema’s greatest adventures.

Box Office: $2,797,501,328
Avengers: Endgame was the final part of the two-part epic. It was the final film in the MCU’s, ‘Infinity Saga’.

Avatar is the second James Cameron film to feature in this list. It was a huge vision brought to life with the help of stunning CGI.
The half live-action, half CGI film broke all of the records when it was first released in 2009. It would be beaten in 2019 by Avengers: Endgame, before clawing back the record with a re-release.
